Preparing for Drum Corps- Colorguard Edition

Image
With the past and upcoming tryouts for the 2019 drum corps season in motion, I thought this post would be a great one that most of my friends could relate to. Preparing pre tour for drum corps is essential for a better experience with your corps, in my opinion, not everyone thinks so, but I bet you will after this post.                     When I say preparing I mean very specific things, not just raising money or gathering items for tour, or even the infamous packing for tour. What I mean is preparing your body, preparing your skills and most importantly preparing your mind. One of the top reasons members leave within the first few weeks of tour, besides injuries, is mental stability. And that is totally okay, never feel like if that has happened to you that it was the wrong decision because you need to take care of your body and ...

A journey in 66 days

Starting my journey....

Journey; noun; an act of traveling from one place to another.

Is my journey considered a journey?

What is my journey?

My 'journey' is how I am restarting my fitness lifestyle. In 2016, I had a lot of built up anger towards a lot of people and I did not like that. After doing a lot of research I figured going to the gym would help relieve a lot of that stress... and it did and bonus I lost 33 lbs. I started January 2017 after a very miserable Christmas in 2016. I did it for a complete year and during Christmas of 2017 I was so happy with who I was with that the gym and eating healthy slipped out of my grasp. Once back to school in 2018 for spring semester, school, work, and attempting to move to a different state took over and my healthy lifestyle never saw daylight again... until now. Now I am back. No excuses. I have had my time to settle in to my new life and now it is time to get my life together. I feel motivated... maybe even more motivated than when I first started. I am so excited to go to the gym everyday, I run races now... eating healthy is still slacking but we are taking baby steps this time in order to maintain a sustainable lifestyle. I do not want to feel like I can't live my healthy lifestyle and be happy at the same time because you can do both.

I feel like my journey fits the definition because I am traveling from one mindset to another. It is a journey and journeys take time. Remember, if you speed and you get pulled over, you might be more late than you would have been had just you went the speed limit.

I sort of started my YouTube so that I can be able to document my journey in hopes of it motivating me even more.

Be ready to see a lot of motivating fitness content coming to my blog and my YouTube channel. See daily updates on my fitness Instagram @tinker_toned.fitness, I try to post every day. I am currently participating in the #gymshark66 challenge. See my COMPLETE fitness plan I am utilizing for the next 66 days, I also include my current weight and measurements and I will make another update video half way and at the end to compare. In the video I include how I am eating, my workout split, goals, and favorite equipment! That should be posted today after this blog post is posted, hopefully. I have had to re-film because I wasn't happy with the quality of content in it! So we will see!!

In the next 66 days I will:

-workout five days a week
-drink a lot of water
-run three times a week
-no cheat meal
-no snacking
-whole foods

66 days on my journey, 66 days to get there, I can do it. You can do it. We can do it.
