Preparing for Drum Corps- Colorguard Edition

          With the past and upcoming tryouts for the 2019 drum corps season in motion, I thought this post would be a great one that most of my friends could relate to. Preparing pre tour for drum corps is essential for a better experience with your corps, in my opinion, not everyone thinks so, but I bet you will after this post.                     When I say preparing I mean very specific things, not just raising money or gathering items for tour, or even the infamous packing for tour. What I mean is preparing your body, preparing your skills and most importantly preparing your mind. One of the top reasons members leave within the first few weeks of tour, besides injuries, is mental stability. About Me

My name is Rachel Leach, I am currently on  my journey through college. I have attended Mississippi State University for two years and now have moved to Kentucky to transfer to Western Kentucky University. I plan to major in Psychological Sciences with a concentration in developmental science and a minor in neuroscience and hopefully one day become a child developmental psychologist!


Current age as of Sept 2018: 20 years old

Current Job(s): Co-op at Crowe LLP and Afterschool Teacher at St johns UMC, dog sitter and babysitter.


Current Education: 2 years at Mississippi State for Psychology, currently taking one year off the save money so that I can solely focus on school once I am back!


Favorite Movie genre: Love scary movies!


Sports/ Recreational activities: Running, Color/Winter guard, Dancing, and the gym!


Favorite Food: Pizza or Sushi, sometimes both!


Favorite drink: Not healthy- Dr. Pepper, Semi Healthy- No calorie white monster, Healthy- Milos no calorie sweet tea!


Pets?: Yes, a terrier/weenie dog mix named bonnie and who is the best gift I have ever received :)


Dreams and Aspirations: Become a developmental psychologist, save a ton of money and travel with my dog and my best friend who also happens to be my boyfriend :)

Being an Introvert

I have come to the realization that being an introvert does not mean you have to stay that way. With that being said, I do not think that you can ever fully become an extrovert if you were born an introvert, and here is why.... This past weekend I experience a couple of first in my life. Being a 20 year old college student, this may surprise you. I have never been to a party, and I also have never been to a bar/club (this one may not be so surprising since I am under 21). I experienced both of said things this past weekend. When I was first talked into going to these two things I was very adamant that I was not going to have a good time and that I would be miserable. I had already made my mind up. There was going to be partying and alcohol and as an introvert both of those things were a no go on my list of things Id love to spend my weekend doing. Becoming More Positive

Becoming More Positive This post is sort of an add on series to my last post "Personal Growth". If you have not read that one, I suggest reading that one first. Becoming more positive about life, especially when it doesn't seem to be in your favor is part of personally growing. When you have finally mastered being able to be positive about every aspect in your life, then that's growth on growth on growth in itself.
